Instead of packing and backache,
why not bring the world closer.
Instead of picking up sticks,
why not stand stone-still,
the cosmos revolving around you,
the universe shrinking to the point of a pin.
Which is how the whole shebang started.
Everything within arm’s reach,
life a twinkle in God’s eye,
no past, no present, no future.
That’s how they tell it anyhow,
astronomy’s greatest minds.
Who never suffered the indignity of eviction.
