Lesson six

sometimes you will find yourself standing
in a moment where nothing could be simpler
sometimes you will be reminded

you will see a woman crouching against a tree
with her baby
watching a couple fiddle with their brand new stroller
adjusting the little sun shade
adjusting the pristine plastic
and you will be ashamed
that you noticed her shoes

and you will be ashamed because you thought of them dancing

and you will be ashamed because when you keep walking
you will turn up your song

sometimes you will find yourself walking
in a moment where nothing could be simpler
just as long as you decide you are not walking away
but walking to be reminded
